As an My Credit Union member, you also have a responsibility to safeguard your financial information.

It is very important that you guard your personal information, particularly account and Personal Identification Numbers (PINs). Such information  should be provided only for legitimate transactions with companies well known to you.


  What does My Credit Union do with your  personal information?


Financial companies choose how they share your personal information. Federal law gives consumers the right to limit some but not all sharing. Federal law also requires us to tell you how we collect, share, and protect your personal information. Please read this notice carefully to understand what we do.


The types of personal information we collect and share depend on the product or service you have with us. The information can include:

How does My Credit Union protect my personal information?

To protect your personal information from unauthorized access and use, we use security measures that comply with federal law. These measures include computer safeguards and secured files and buildings.

We also maintain other physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect this information and we limit access to information to those employees for whom access is appropriate.

How does My Credit Union collect my personal information?

We collect your personal information, for example, when you:

  • Open an account
  • Apply for financing
  • Give us your wage statements
  • Provide employment information
  • Give us contact information

We also collect your personal information from others, such as credit bureaus, affiliates, and other companies.

Why can't I limit all sharing?

Federal law gives you the right to limit only:

  • sharing for affiliates' everyday business purposes -- information about your creditworthiness
  • affiliates from using your information to market to you
  • sharing for nonaffiliates to market to you

General Website Information
Visitors to My Credit Union’s website remain anonymous. We do not collect personal identifying information about visitors to our website. Our site does collect standard nonidentifying information about visits to our site, such as date and time visited. This information is used to compile statistics on site usage. If a member accesses the My Credit Union Online Banking, personal information may be collected but this information remains at the credit union. My Credit Union does not sell member data to third parties, whether it is gained online or already exists on the host system.

Personal information gathered from e-mail sent by website visitors may be used by the credit union’s staff to answer questions, follow-up on suggestions or to provide a product or service. This information is never sold, given, or disclosed to third parties. You should never send confidential information such as account numbers, credit card numbers or requests for financial transactions via e-mail to the credit union. My Credit Union is Committed to Your Online Security

My Credit Union's Online Banking Service is not only the most convenient way to manage your finances 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from anywhere you have an internet connection -- it is also committed to being the safest possible.


As you may already know, My Credit Union online banking data is safeguarded by encryption as it moves between systems. Encryption scrambles messages exchanged between your browser and our server. Data residing on a system can only be accessed by using an authorized sign-on ID and Password.

My Credit Union uses 128-bit Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) Encryption to conduct transactions between your browser and our servers. After you log in, just look for the closed gold lock lock icon (Internet Explorer) or key (Netscape) in your browser's taskbar. The Internet address of secured pages should also start with an "https" prefix as opposed to "http". An example is https://secure-rbcu.org.

Double click on the padlock or key and a Security Certificate will pop up. This provides the security information about the website, the identity of the certificate provider, and the certificate owner's name.

Multi-Factor Authentication

Beginning in November and going fully "live" on December 26, 2007, My Credit Union has upgraded its online banking with a new security feature: multi-factor authentication. This very important upgrade identifies you as the rightful account owner by recognizing not only your password but also your computer. If the computer being used to log onto your online banking accounts is not recognized by the security system, you will either be asked to answer a number of security questions that only you know the answers for or you will be phoned to confirm your identity.

It is important to note that once you've successfully logged onto your account from a computer not considered part of your "normal" online banking access network, that "new" computer will then be recognized as normal behavior for you and you will not be prompted to answer security questions in the future.

Enrolling in Multi-Factor Authentication

Every My Credit Union online banking member will be required to enroll in the new and completely free multi-factor authentication security feature.

This will require members to participate in a brief one-time enrollment process. During this process you will prompted by the online banking system (after you've logged onto your account) to do the following:

1. Select 3 security questions and the answers to those questions.

2. Provide 1 and up to 4 phone numbers where you can be reached when doing your online banking (cell phone, home, work, etc.).

3. Verify your security questions, the answers to those questions, as well as the phone numbers you've provided.

4. Submit the information.


When you enroll in My Credit Union's online banking, you will choose a sign-on ID and password for yourself. However, your chosen password at this point is only to get you onto the system the very first time; you will immediately be asked to change your password after successfully signing on. Additionally, if anything is entered incorrectly in your initial online enrollment for My Credit Union online banking, an My Credit Union online banking representative will contact you to confirm your identity and your chosen sign-on ID and password before the enrollment process is completed.

Remember that you play an important part in keeping others from logging into your account. Never use passwords that are easy to guess. For example, birth dates, first names, pet names, addresses, phone numbers, and social security numbers all make poor choices for passwords. Never reveal your password to another person.

Other safeguards

  • If there are 3 failed sign-on attempts using your sign-on ID and/or password, the system will lock your account access and no one will be able to attempt signing onto your online account(s).
  • After a specified period of inactivity, My Credit Union online banking will "timeout." This limits the time that a person might have to continue your online banking session if you left your computer unattended without logging out.
